Extreme Off-Roading with the 2024 GMC Sierra
HD AT4X and AT4X AEV Edition

When Global Vice President of Buick-GMC, Duncan Aldred, was asked to describe the new 2024 GMC Sierra HD AT4X and the extreme AEV Edition, he chose his words carefully. The new coming models in the off-road truck segment are designed to offer “customers more premium choices when it comes to ‘do-it-all’ capabilities.”

The trucks, as announced by GMC in May 2023, pursue the desire by the manufacturer to elevate key off-road truck segments with enhanced towing capability, increased off-roading features and handling, and top-class comfort and luxury.

The GMC Sierra HD AT4X and AT4X AEV Edition are designed for enhanced heavy duty. The standard 6.6L gas engine is paired with an Allison 10-speed automatic transmission for optimized engine power, efficiency, and torque across the entire operating range. Modern-day adventurers can not only lift and tow heavy, but they can also do it with more power with the 2024 GMC Sierra HD AT4X and AEV Edition than with the previous generations. The 2024 AT4X will deliver up to a 25% increase in low-end torque power over the previous Sierra heavy duty generation.

Capable of towing over 8,300kg (8,346kg for the AT4X AEV Edition and 8,391kg for the HD AT4X), the GMC trucks embody the off-roading spirit of adventure with the higher towing power in its segment. The AT4X also includes an all-new Off-Road mode capable of improving the vehicle’s performance through transmission shifts, vehicle calibrations and throttle progression. Added protective features, such as robust stamped steel bumpers with integrated recovery points, have been designed for the AEV Edition to meet the demands of enthusiastic off-road customers. Dave Harriton, AEV CEO, describes the AT4X AEV Edition as an HD vehicle with all the “capability and confidence” adventurers need in the right spots.

Paired with advanced trailering assistance technologies, the 2024 Sierra HD lineup helps streamline the whole process of hitching and towing. The trucks are also equipped with up to 14 available camera views for effective trailer manoeuvering. This is the most trailering assistance available in this HD truck segment, including a trailer Length Indicator feature.

True to the second part of their segment target, high-end luxury for HD trucks, GMC packed the 2024 Sierra HD AT4X with premium comfort and entertainment features, ranging from leather seats and authentic Vanta Ash wood decor to a 12-speaker Bose Premium Series audio system. Front seats also include a power massaging function for enhanced comfort while or after driving. Customers can also access high levels of personalization through a configurable centrepiece, consisting of a 13.4-inch diagonal infotainment touchscreen, a 12.3-inch diagonal driver information center display and a 15-inch-diagonal head-up screen.

Enthusiastic HD adventurers will be able to find the 2024 Sierra HD AT4X and the AEV Edition trucks in Canadian dealerships by the end of quarter 3, 2023. If you are interested in learning more about the truck, or want to be the first to know when it arrives, just use the button below!
