Dodge and RAM are Top
In Customer Appreciation Rankings

Dodge and RAM came in number one and two in J.D. Power’s annual IQS results, cementing a strong performance in an industry dogged by technical issues.

Both manufacturers built on their positive results from 2022, showing consistent improvement and earning first and second places in the prestigious rating by the renowned U.S. research and marketing company. The results contrasted with industry-wide trends that saw declining scores across the board.

J.D Power assessed over 33 manufacturers for this year’s competition, with Dodge claiming the first spot and remaining among the top two brands in the field for the fourth consecutive year. RAM came in at number two and has placed at least third three times since 2020. Judges also considered the latter the most improved car company of the last 12 months, having gained over 16 positions since last year. These achievements are world-class, attesting to the premium quality the brands offer and the parallel attention that RAM and Dodge pay to class-leading details and performance.

Mark Stewart, COO for parent group Stellantis, said the group’s brands were finding a rhythm. “The results bode well for the company’s team and signal to customers that the firm is aligned with their concerns in real-time”, he explained.

The automotive industry pays close attention to J.D. Power’s survey, which is based on direct customer feedback. The survey interviews new vehicle buyers after three months of ownership and counts the number of issues per 100 vehicles (PP100) to measure brand performance. It also ranks brands according to long-term dependability, new vehicle features’ appeal, and car buyers’ purchasing experiences across brands. This year, operatives collected responses from more than 93,000 participants, the results of which led Dodge and RAM to improve their scores by 3 and 45 PP100, respectively, compared to last year.

While the absolute improvement in scores might seem small, the relative enhancements they reveal are tremendous. The industry as a whole saw increases in issues for new vehicles rising from 180 to 192 on average, mainly due to advanced driver assistance features that did not always satisfy owners.

RAM’s 45-PP100 improvement was the best among mass-market brands, thanks to the company’s leading position in the large light-duty pickup segment. Car and Driver included the 2023 RAM 1500 in its “10 Best Vehicles” list for the fifth year in a row and praised the vehicle for its luxurious and comfortable interior, excellent ride, and superior handling.
