A Whole New World
“Significantly more powerful than before, it also offers slightly better fuel economy and adds many new features including solar panels and a hands-free driving feature. And wait, it looks like that?!” – Joey Capparella, Car and Driver
The Toyota Prius usually comes to mind when you hear the word “hybrid,” but with so many new hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and fully electric vehicles being introduced to the market, it has slipped out of sight. However, Toyota does away with the spaceship styling and outdated features with a completely redesigned 2023 model. Everyone’s favourite hybrid is more stylish, more powerful, and more appealing than ever before.

Ready for Take Off
“For 2023, Toyota is giving the Prius hybrid and the Prius Prime plug-in hybrid an impressive makeover inside and out. Gone are the angular exterior and double-digit 0 to 60 mph times, replaced by a streamlined look and plenty of power. A plethora of advanced safety and driver assistance features come standard, too.” – Keith Barry, Consumer Reports
The 2023 Toyota Prius gets a completely new powertrain, growing to 2.0 litres on its four-cylinder engine and replacing its nickel hydride battery pack with a more advanced lithium-ion unit. This allows the 2023 model to have more energy density with less weight. It also means a huge improvement in power — up to 196 horsepower in the all-wheel-drive model, compared to 121 horsepower in the previous version.
More importantly, the increased performance does not impact the Prius’s fuel economy. On the contrary, it actually increases — the 2023 Toyota Prius achieves 4.1 L/100km combined fuel economy.

Bringing the Style
“In terms of exterior and interior design, tech features and performance, the 2023 Toyota Prius is a major step forward for the long-running fuel-sipper. If you’re even thinking about getting a Prius, wait a bit longer for the new one.” – Cameron Rogers, Edmunds
Toyota focused a lot of energy on improving both the exterior and interior design of the 2023 Prius. The cabin environment is more conventional than it was in previous generations. Gone is the centrally mounted gauge cluster; instead, a low dashboard features a digital instrument cluster in front of the driver, and there’s a touchscreen infotainment system as well.
Outside, the Prius is smoother and more aerodynamic for 2023 but still easily recognizable. With a shark-like nose at the front, the Prius is an inch wider and smoothly transitions to a two-inch lower roofline in the back. The rear door handles are now hidden at the back of the rear window glass.
Welcome to the Future
With a new design comes new standard tech for the 2023 Toyota Prius. In terms of driver-assist features, the 2023 model includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic warning, and adaptive cruise control. As for infotainment, the Prius offers an upgraded touchscreen interface that is much more intuitive and attractive, and includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard equipment.

New and Improved
There are few things that carry over in the redesigned 2023 Toyota Prius, but drivers can count on a hybrid vehicle that offers reliability, dependability, and great fuel economy. The fact that it is now in a more attractive, modern, and powerful package makes the 2023 Prius a slam dunk.
