2023 Chevrolet Colorado

2023 Chevrolet Colorado
A Classic Enters a New Generation

Operating firmly in the mid-size segment with a carefully balanced blend of power and economy, the Colorado is ideal for everyday driving combined with medium-duty truck work. And with the 2023 model offering enhancements in almost every area of its design, the next-generation Colorado is more attractive than ever.

Power to Get the Job Done

Previous generations of the Chevy Colorado offered several engines to choose from, but the 2023 model has slimmed the options down to just one. Luckily, the remaining choice is a highly capable 2.7L turbo model, making a healthy 237 horsepower and 259lb-ft of torque at the base level.

But that’s not the end of the performance story. The same engine is available in two retuned configurations which deliver either 310 horsepower and 390lb-ft in the medium-range trims, or 310 horsepower and 430lb-ft in the high-output ZR2 model.

Whichever engine variation you settle on, the output is substantially higher than the outgoing model’s equivalent, with the base engine delivering 18% more horsepower and 36% higher torque than its predecessor.

In all cases, the powertrain is completed by a newly developed eight-speed automatic transmission offering smoother shifts and greater power on demand, feeding either rear-wheel or all-wheel drive.

High-End Towing Capability

The Colorado may be a mid-size truck, but there’s nothing average about its towing ability. Even with the lowest-torque engine, the Colorado can haul up to 1,591kg in trailer weight, an impressive amount by any medium-duty reckoning. Trade up to the retuned engine, and the towing capacity rises to a solid 3,500kg, easily among the highest in its segment.

Up to Five Drive Modes

To make the most of the new Colorado’s power, the model will be available with up to five selectable drive modes depending on the trim. The Normal mode offers a balance between power, handling, and economy, while the Tow/Haul mode is specifically designed to improve responsiveness when hauling a heavy load.

The Off-Road mode offers improved traction control for driving away from the pavement, while the Terrain and Baja modes go further into wilderness territory with optimizations for rock crawling and desert running, respectively.

Improved Interior Technology

The 2023 Chevrolet Colorado also enjoys extensive upgrades to the interior, particularly in the technology department. The most immediately obvious change is the new 11.3-inch touchscreen display, which runs at a higher resolution than previous models and allows extensive customization of the available options.

The new Colorado is also the first mid-size truck to include Google Built-In technology as standard, which fully integrates Google Assistant, Google Maps, and Google Play into the system, helping you stay organized and in touch while out on the road.

A dedicated off-road performance display is also available, which monitors g-force, wheel slippage, pitch, roll, and more, delivering all the information in real-time as you drive.

And lastly, for the tech section, new apps and features take the stress out of towing, including automatic help to line up the hitch and warnings of potential driving hazards while the trailer is attached.

These new enhancements all work together to set new standards for power, capability, and technology in the mid-size truck segment. If you’d like to experience the redesigned 2023 Chevrolet Colorado for yourself, please book a test drive by clicking on the button below.
