2023 Toyota Crown

2023 Toyota Crown
All-New, All-Powerful

The 2023 Toyota Crown is a daring new addition to the automaker’s lineup, featuring the first-ever Hybrid MAX electrified powertrain built for high performance.

An All-New Vehicle

“The driving position is raised from a traditional sedan height to something akin to a compact SUV, which may make the Crown an attractive alternative to full-size sedans that still adhere to a more traditional formula.” – Drew Dorian, Car and Driver

The 2023 Toyota Crown is an all-new vehicle in the automaker’s lineup, and it brings a new look along with it. The Crown straddles the line between car and SUV, offering a higher driving position on a sedan’s body shape.

Unique Exterior Styling

“Meanwhile, the all-new Crown sedan has a caught-you-looking exterior shape that looks like nothing else on the road. Add in the optional arresting bi-tone paint scheme and the top trim level’s dubbed-out 21-inch wheels–a size usually reserved for tall-riding, large SUVs–and there’s much about which to talk.” – Ron Sessions, J.D. Power

Toyota unabashedly labels the 2023 Crown a full-size sedan, despite its trendy sloping roofline and raised driving height. It offers a unique appearance, right down to its 21-inch wheels, the largest Toyota has ever offered on a production car. Completing the Crown’s unique appearance is a two-tone paint scheme that lets it stand out from the crowd.

The 2023 Toyota Crown is conspicuous from other sedans because it has almost six inches of ground clearance, a tall roof (almost four inches taller than its sedan siblings), and large wheel openings, making its outward appearance more akin to a midsize crossover.

Hybrid to the Max

“As with the Venza, the Sienna, and even the Sequoia, the Crown makes its debut with an all-hybrid lineup. And just like those other Toyotas, you don’t need to be a Prius-loving environmentalist to care about the Crown’s green-friendly powertrains.” – Zach Gale, MotorTrend

The 2023 Toyota Crown is only available with a hybrid powertrain, but there are two options from which you can choose. In Canada, the lower-trim-level Crown has a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine and three electric motors that deliver 236 horsepower. It pairs with all-wheel drive and a continuously variable automatic transmission to deliver 5.7 L/100km highway fuel economy.

The highest trim level — the Platinum — introduces drivers to Toyota’s new Hybrid MAX system, which combines a turbocharged 2.4-litre inline four-cylinder engine with an electric motor on the rear axle for a combined 340 horsepower. It pairs with a six-speed automatic transmission and will launch the car to 97 km/h in approximately 5.7 seconds. The increased power does bring down the fuel economy — the Hybrid MAX engine delivers 8.1 L/100km city and 7.3 L/100km highway.

Always Tech-Forward

Toyota goes all-in on comfort, safety, and convenience in the 2023 Crown, matching the quality of its other vehicles. The Crown’s cabin is appropriately premium and includes a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as a wireless smartphone charging pad, onboard Wi-Fi, and USB-C ports.

The 2023 Crown includes all of Toyota’s best driver-assistance features. All models come with a package that includes automated emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and more.

A Sedan for Royalty

The 2023 Toyota Crown is appropriately named because its unique design and high build quality are fit for royalty. Break away from the pack with a sedan that offers more than its competitors.
