The Chevrolet Blazer has always had a profile that made it seem bigger and bolder than its actual size, but the latest facelift takes that imposing impression even further. The honeycomb front grille takes up most of the front end, relegating the LED headlights to a swept-back supporting role, and the attention-grabbing effect is only enhanced by the large wheel arches that follow behind.
The taillights have also been tweaked to give a sharper rear end, while new chrome accents and redesigned wheels complete a successful exterior revamp.
Two Special Editions
The 2023 Blazer’s appearance also benefits from two special editions that add extra flourishes and character to the exterior. The Redline Edition adds black-painted aluminum wheels with red accents, black front and rear Chevrolet branding, a black grille, and black exterior fittings. The Midnight Edition takes a similar approach, but uses gloss black finishes to give a dark and moody feel.
Two Powerful Engines
Even at the entry level, there’s no shortage of power lurking behind the Blazer’s assertive grille. A 2.0L turbo engine is standard, making a hefty 228 horsepower and 258lb-ft of torque, fed through a nine-speed automatic transmission to your choice of front-wheel or all-wheel drive.
Up to five driving modes are available to optimize performance for different conditions, with available options including Sport, Snow / Ice, and Off-Road.
If you’re looking for a powerful drive that’s perfectly suited to city and highway duties, then this standard Blazer powertrain offers a great blend of performance and economy.
But if you’re looking for even more power in your SUV, then the optional 3.6L V6 mill steps up the pace. Making a mammoth 308 horsepower and 270lb-ft, it’s an upgrade that pushes this mid-size crossover to a new level of performance and aggression, while still maintaining poise and control. What’s more, when properly equipped with a hitch, this powertrain can haul up to 2,041kg in trailer weight, greatly adding to its versatility.
Improved Interior Tech
A larger 10.2″ touchscreen display is now standard on every Blazer trim, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto also featured across the range. A wireless pad is available on a wider range of trims than before, and can be matched with optional extras including a Wi-Fi hotspot facility, in-built navigation, and an upgrade to an eight-speaker Bose sound system.
Extensive Safety Systems by Chevrolet Assist
Lastly, The 2023 Blazer carries over the extensive suite of safety systems from the previous model year, with key standard and available highlights including:
Forward collision alerts, with automatic braking at speeds of up to 80km/h
Lane keep assist with lane departure warnings to correct unintentional sideways drift
Adaptive cruise control and vehicle distance indicator
Blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alerts
High-definition rear backup camera
The new 2023 Chevrolet Blazer is set to arrive during the first half of 2022, and with these new features building on 2022’s solid foundation, it’s set to be a mid-size SUV that’s worth the wait.
